They say "don't judge a book by it's cover" but if that were true, we'd only read comics or graphic novels.
Early in my career, I worked in publishing on consumer goods like Black + Decker to online-publishers. Here are a few book covers and editorial layouts I'm most proud of.
The process includes a creative brief and collaboration with the author where I would breakdown the core concept into a cover that reveals the story but not the plot. Whether the reader sees it from a window display or in a collection of tightly stacked books, each cover and spine is created with love to grab the eye of a potential reader.
From men's lifestyle magazines to "how-to" books, I've designed magazine and book layouts designed to guide the reader from page to page. My goal is to turn editorials into page-turners and keep-sakes that decorate coffee tables and entertain guests.
